Answer :-

Chipping was his real name. He was born in 1848 and died in 1933. He lived in the Victorian age (of Queen Victoria) and the later kings Edward and George. Mr. Chips and his wife, Katherine even attended Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee (60th years of  rule) in London and saw her sitting in a carriage in the procession. These were peaceful times until 1914 when the First World War started. However, Chips and other teachers taught regularly at Brook-field.  Educational and social progress did not suffer much.

Why did Mr. Chips in your view, leave Mel-bury to join the Brook-field school and why did he like it?

Answer :-

Mr. Chips surely left the Mel-bury school because he was not well adjusted to it. the boys at Mel-bury school troubled or hooted at him in the classes. He could not keep good discipline. The Head and students of the school must have been unhappy (or dissatisfied) with him. The students at Brook-field respected and loved him. The teacher were very friendly to him. He laughed and joked with the students. And he let the students laugh at him.
